How To Play Pickleball Dice
FAQs
Do you keep score like in real pickleball?
We simplified the scoring by using 'Rally Scoring' where a point is scored no matter who serves. If the server does not get the point, their opponent scores and serves.
What are the paddles used for?
The paddles are in the game just for fun. They're great for victory dances, or they can be thrown in frustration after a bad shot!
How long does it take to play a game?
You'll finish a game in under 15 minutes, quicker if you're getting pickled!
Can 3 or 4 people play?
Yes 2-4 people can play. When there is more than one player on a side, they take turns rolling the dice to serve and return.
Is going for the automatic point a good strategy?
It's not that easy to get three 6's, but if you get two of them on your first roll, then go for it. Also try the 'Advanced Play' rule where three 6's can be beaten with an ATP (Around The Post).
Is it best to serve long or short?
The shorter the better, this way you limit the sums that your opponent can use to return the ball with 1's, 2's, and 3's (if they choose that type of return).
Is it best to keep your opponent deep?
Just like in real pickleball, it's all about the Kitchen. If you drop the ball in the Kitchen, you limit the sums your opponent can use on a return using 1's, 2's, and 3's (if they choose that type of return).
What is 'Rally Scoring'?
With 'Rally Scoring', a point is scored no matter who serves. If the server does not get the point, their opponent scores and serves. This type of scoring is being used around the country when courts get filled to speed up the game.
